Post-translational modification services launched by Swiss-Prot

The annotation of protein post-translational modifications (PTM including Acetylation, Amidation, Disulfide bridges, Glycosylation, Methylation, Phosphorylation, or Sulfation) is an important task of UniProtKB curators and, with continuing improvements in experimental methodology, and ever greater number of articles are being published on this topic. To help curators cope with this growing body of information we have developed a system which extracts information from the scientific literature for the most frequently annotated PTMs in UniProtKB, Swiss-Prot has developped the PTM annotation service; see http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/14/104/abstract, for a complete report and http://eagl.unige.ch/PTM/ to directly access the web application ! The service is currently being integrated into the EAGLi's question-answering framework. Stay tune !
